Update to PS3 V2.42

Aug 2008 on GamingSony appeared to have some major issues with the update v2.40, as I reported a few weeks ago Sony had initially withdrawn the update and then released v2.41 which seemed to iron out the bugs. This new update which is quite a minor update in comparison doesn’t seem to be without its problems? A Google search quickly identifies a number of issues reported, the main one being games no longer working – at all, for the Call of Duty 4 contingent this is a major blow.
I myself have also struggled with this update, all morning a time out error to the update server has displayed on the TV, time and time again after requesting the update, finally this afternoon it has updated, not one for gaming on the PS3 I wouldn’t come across this issue, but I no longer have the ability to turn off the console via the front touch sensitive button pad. After scrapping around for a few minutes I’ve located the menu option to turn off the console, which seems to take a while to shut down.
Please Sony – sort it out
