Onecare GTAgent Fix
Posted by Simon Salvin on 04. Sep 2008 on InternetFor the last two and a half years I’ve used Windows Live Onecare internet security. If you’re in the market for a new anti virus/security software then I’d highly recommend this and with 90 days Free trial there’s nothing to lose?
Every now and again you’ll come across a problem that confuses you, one such problem I’ve seen is Onecare‘s tray icon turning amber alerting the user it requires an action to be taken to fix a potential issue, the alert I’ve come across doesn’t detail the issue, it just specifies that there is a security issue and to click the ‘Fix Now’ button, upon doing this a blank window appears and the title of the window states ‘GTOOneCare\HTML\GTAgent\html\index.htm’.
Having initially tried to uninstall and reinstall the program and trawling the web to find the issue unresolved I’ve kept an eye on this issue for a number of months. I’m pleased to announce that a fix is now in place for this. Download and run the Database Reset tool from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=4bc2594b-95ab-4235-b5b8-41656b38480f&DisplayLang=en.
Its good to know that Onecare issues are being solved with a number of small tools being available to download to correct these issues without having to reinstall the complete program.
If you’ve had Firewall issues with Onecare then the repair tool is available here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=7EE728A2-3C67-4A12-8D7E-954E86233206&displaylang=en
And the malware repair tool is availble here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=70ADCA25-950C-4B1B-A5E2-297E80AA67B1&displaylang=en
