BT gave me a tree

Posted by on 08. Apr 2008 on Off Topic

In an attempt to be “Green” as seems to be the trend these days, I received an email from BT asking me to switch to paper free billing, this would be done automatically unless I returned the email requesting to remain on the paper billing list, they also stated that by switching I would be making a huge difference to the environment! I’ll star this in an attempt not to offend, B*******ks (Please excuse me for swearing< I haven’t before on my blog but this makes my blood boil). The planet is already shot, how are my 3 sheets of paper and an envelope or should I say loss of them, going to save the planet???

Unfortunately I forgot to reply an so only a few days later I received another email congratulating me for saving the planet!

I thought they may of provided an incentive to lose the paper, a £1 discount, oh no, I’m sure BT are going to save thousands on their stationary costs, how about pass that saving onto me, no I must be living in cloud cukkoo land!

Because of my mistake not replying to that email, I’ve now incured a further cost, after viewing my bill online I have to download it and print it for my accountant, so I’ve got to pay for the paper and the ink?

But its not all bad, BT said they’d plant a tree on my behalf? Maybe that imaginary tree is the real planet saver? I wonder if in twenty years they’ll chop it down and make it into a bill for someone who remembered to reply to their email? My biggest wonder is whether that tree exists, I haven’t seen a picture of it being planted, they could email that, saves on paper!

Hopefully they’ll take those profits and invest them in upgrading the UK’s substandard network.

Thanks for listening, rant over :)
