1 Click Ordering

Posted by on 18. Jan 2008 on Technology

Before I start, Happy New Year! Its been a while since I wrote anything which means business is good and I’m really busy. I hope you are too :) And the New Year is treating you well.

I’ve previously written about Amazon.co.uk and they continue to offer great prices, delivery and packaging, but today I came across a blip in their system, I wanted to order a telephone master socket, I found the product and listed on the page was a bundle offer, buy the socket and the wiring tool together for a discount, I chose this offer and clicked the “Buy Now” button, by doing so it added the items to my basket which I could see on the right of the screen, now as I use Amazon frequently my details are saved and I am always logged into their system, because of this I am presented with 2 options, to continue to my basket or purchase with 1 click ordering, I chose 1 click which places the order immediately without viewing the basket, simple job done and I left for an appointment, returning home later this afternoon I had received 2 confirmation emails of my order, I thought this was strange as it was a bundled offer, then looking closer I noticed the items were being supplied my third party sellers, but not 1 third party seller, the items had been split into 2 orders from different sellers. This doesn’t sound too bad, but here comes the crunch, each seller charges postage, the master socket postage cost is £4.50, extortionate but I needed the item so I paid it, the wiring tool £0.31 for the tool £5 for postage!!!!! I nearly fell of my seat!!!!!

I then checked the site by using the “add to basket” button and it correctly worked using the single third party seller. I then phoned Amazon to advise of the problem, it didn’t take long for them to jump down my throat and tell me I was wrong! I advised them of the issue with the one click button and they told me it was my fault for using 1 click and I should use add to basket, if thats the case then why have a one click button in the first place???? Amazon sort it out!
