I started writing this over a month ago and never got the time to finish it, with the run up to Christmas being rather hectic! I’m taking a well deserved break so I’ll have time to write about some new technologies and things to look forward to in 2009!
Microsoft have released a bundled package with a yearly subscription after a successful trial in the US. For an annual price of £60 the package includes Office Home Edition (Word, Excel & Powerpoint) and Live Onecare, Simple PC’s recommended Internet Security package, also bundled into the package is Microsoft’s Live services, although available as a Free download.
So far I’ve only come across this package available from PC World. It’s certainly an interesting way to purchase this software which future proofs you as new versions of Office are released. On the other hand you could search the net for a retail boxed version of Office 2007 for around £55 one off payment and buy a 12 month Onecare subscription for £25, only thing you won’t get is the Office upgrade when available, that’ll be another £70, but weigh up the options, it’s an interesting proposition?
