Name and shame Christmas special
![]()
I love Christmas but hate the build up, the shops start to advertise Christmas in October and the mad rush in December! It drives me crazy!!!!!!!!!!! And it amazes me how our high street retailers are still ripping us off! After last years successful internet shopping for Christmas presents it was a no brainer this year to repeat the process, unfortunately there was a slight problem, when my Boots.com order arrived the packaging wasn’t the greatest and some of the items were damaged, prefering the option to return the items to the store to avoid the same situation if exchanging by post I ventured into town on Sun 2nd Dec, what an absolute NIGHTMARE!!!! Hoards of people pushing and shoving to get those gifts, I’d hate to see how worse it gets nearer to christmas day! But it’s not Boots I’m gonna moan about, infact they gave me money back, the woman at the till refunded the products and then recharged the replacements, however they went through at different prices and made me about £9! Thanks Boots
The real moan here once again comes down to video entertainment, HMV take a bow, you are named and shamed! When you would expect one of the largest entertainment retailers to push the next generation of media, its amazing to see they’ve shoved both HD DVD and Blu Ray into the corner and a poor show for the titles available, I’d gone to HMV in particular to find the Spiderman trilogy on Blu Ray, it was advertised on their website as instore for a reasonable £29.95, but there was no sight in either of the 2 HMV stores I visited, they did advertise the boxset to purchase direct from their website for slightly less making it a great bargain but with previous experience HMV has failed to deliver on many orders in the past with little communication!
You may think I just sound a little bitter, but I wouldn’t be outdone just like that! Oh no, as a fan of BBC’s nature and natural history programming, its great to watch it on BBC’s HD channel and even better to buy it on HD disc for future viewing, I was a little dissapointed to see Coast wasn’t available on HD disc but Galapagos is (as you may have guessed from the picture above) and I’d love to own it, unfortunately for HMV they seem to want to kill the HD formats pricing them to extortionate levels, Galapagos on Blu Ray disc (single disc, not double or triple!) £30!!!!!
Its no wonder these stores report sales figures down and more and more shops close! And if you’re looking to buy some movies whether it be in HD or standard DVD check out www.movietyme.com. I’ll be buying Galapagos for £12.99 and free p&p. Thats on Blu Ray not DVD, how HMV has the balls to charge £30 I’ll never know, shame on you.
