Netbook added to loan machines
Posted by Simon Salvin on 28. Dec 2008 on Internet, PC, Simple PC, TechnologyWe have now added a Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook to our available load machines. The Dell was featured in this months PC Pro magazine as a recommended buy. The tiny netbook features an Intel Atom processor, 8.9" screen, 2gb ram, 16gb Solid State hard drive and Windows XP.
Netbooks have now taken to the mainstream after initial thoughts by larger manufacturers that the mini laptops low power wouldn’t find any interest in the market. Asus’s Eee PC soon put those thoughts to sleep and now all the major manufacturers are bringing a mini to market.
The small netbooks have been available in screen sizes between 8" and 10", but Dell, coming to market a little late in the field, have announced a 12" Atom netbook. Look out for more on this soon.
If you’re on the look out for a netbook, the Inspiron mini is also available with a Linux OS and 8gb SSD hard drive, Tesco have these on sale for just under £200 but grab one while you can, otherwise if you prefer XP Vodafone have these available which includes mobile broadband built into the netbook, available from £25 per month with a mobile broadband contract.
