The super speed port is making its way into new PC’s and laptops and one of the first peripherals to make use of the technology is the external hard drive. The super speed drive utilises transfer speeds up to 5 gigabits per second, faster than SATA and the E-SATA ports found on the last generation of external hard drives, and with backwards compatibility with USB 1.0 and 2.0 PC ports, the plug & play functionality offers greater flexibility than E-SATA.
